Medication management by video

Psychiatric medication care by video, from prescribers in Charleston

Remedy Psychiatry is six prescribers who see adults for medication management. Every visit is by video, in the states where we are licensed, and every plan is written down.

  • Video visits for adults
  • A written plan after each visit
  • Your fee in writing first

Is this the right fit?

A prescriber visit and a therapy session do different work

Care

Three kinds of visit, all by video

Each one ends with a plan you can read again.

  • Evaluation

A first visit of 50 minutes: your history, what you take now and a plan in writing.

    About the evaluation
  • Follow-up visits

About 20 minutes to see how a medicine is working, change it if needed and plan what comes next.

    About follow-up
  • Medication review

For people who already take medicines: a careful second look at the list, the doses and how they fit together.

    About the review

Approach

How we practice

We begin with a conversation, not a prescription. Your prescriber asks what has been happening, what you already take and what you want from the visit, and decides with you whether a medicine makes sense.

One change at a time

When a medicine changes, one thing changes. We say what we expect you to notice and when, and write down what to do if something feels wrong. Nothing starts or stops without a talk first.

A plan you can reread

After each visit you receive the plan in writing: the medicines, the doses, what to watch for, when to call and the date of the next visit.

What stays yours

You can ask to stop, or to see another prescriber, at any time. If a medicine is not the right step, we say so and tell you what else to ask for.

How it works

From a message to a plan, in four steps

  1. 01

Step 1: Ask for a visit

Send the form or call. Someone on our staff replies within one business day, by the method you choose.

  2. 02

Step 2: Get your fee in writing

Before the first visit we send what you will be charged, or a Good Faith Estimate if you pay without insurance.

  3. 03

    Step 3: Meet by video

Join from a private place in a state where we are licensed. Your prescriber confirms who you are and where you are at the start.

  4. 04

Step 4: Leave with a plan

The plan arrives in writing after the visit, and the next visit is set.

Where we can see you

Our prescribers are licensed in these states. You must be in one of them during the visit, not only live there.

  • West Virginia: Charleston, Huntington, Morgantown, Parkersburg, Beckley, Wheeling
  • Ohio: Columbus, Athens, Marietta, Cincinnati
  • Kentucky: Louisville, Lexington, Ashland, Pikeville

If you are in another state during the visit, we cannot see you. We will help you find someone licensed where you are.

How fees work

What sets the fee, and what you hear before you start.

  • Insurance we work with

We bill some commercial PPO plans directly and are out of network with other plans. We do not bill Medicare or Medicaid from this practice, and if you have either we tell you before you book.

    • Some commercial PPO plans: billed to your plan

    • Other plans: out of network

    • Medicare and Medicaid: not billed here

  • If you pay yourself

The fee depends on the kind of visit and how long it runs. You get it in writing before the first visit, and you pay when the visit ends. A few reduced-fee visits are held each month: ask when you write. HSA and FSA cards work.

    • Set by the kind of visit and its length

    • In writing before you start

    • Paid when the visit ends

  • Receipts for reimbursement

After a visit you can ask for an itemized receipt (a superbill) that lists the date, the kind of visit and a diagnosis code, to send to your plan. Your insurer will see that code. Your plan decides whether it reimburses anything, so ask it first.

  • An estimate in advance

If you pay without insurance, you have the right to a Good Faith Estimate of what your care will cost before it starts. We send one in writing before your first visit. If a bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.

  • Checking your benefits

Before your first visit our staff checks your plan's mental health benefits and tells you what they find: whether the visit is covered and whether a copay or deductible applies. You can also call the number on your card first.

  • What the first visit includes

The first visit is a 50-minute video evaluation with one prescriber. Follow-up visits are about 20 minutes. Every visit ends with a written plan.

Prescribing policy

What we prescribe by video, and what we do not

A prescription follows an evaluation, never a message. Some rules do not change from one prescriber to the next:

  • No controlled medicine is ever promised. Whether we can prescribe one by video depends on federal and state rules, your history and your prescriber's judgment.
  • Refills happen at scheduled visits, not by message.
  • Lost or early medicine is not replaced early.
  • Nothing starts, changes or stops without a conversation first.

Questions

What people ask first

Do you take my insurance?

We bill some commercial PPO plans directly and are out of network with other plans. We do not bill Medicare or Medicaid from this practice. Tell us your plan when you write, and before your first visit we check it and tell you what we find.

How do fees work?

The fee depends on the kind of visit and how long it runs. We give it to you in writing before you start, so you never learn it at the end. The How fees work page has the details.

What happens in the first visit?

A 50-minute video conversation with one prescriber about what has been happening, what you take now and what you want from care. You leave with a written plan. The first session page walks through before, during and after.

Are you licensed where I live?

Our prescribers are licensed in West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky, and which of us can see you depends on the state you are in during the visit. If you are in another state, we cannot see you, and we will help you find someone licensed there.

Do you prescribe controlled medication by video?

We do not promise any controlled medicine, at the first visit or later. Whether a prescriber can prescribe one by video depends on federal and state rules, your history and the prescriber's judgment, and some people are asked to be seen in person first. The prescribing policy says more.

How soon can I be seen?

We cannot promise a date. A person on our staff replies within a business day with the next times available, or tells you if there is a wait.
