Questions

Choosing someone

How do I choose a prescriber?

You do not have to. Tell us what you are looking for, and whether you prefer a psychiatrist or a nurse practitioner, a woman or a man, English or Spanish, and we will suggest someone. You can change prescribers at any time.

What is the difference between a psychiatrist and a nurse practitioner?

A psychiatrist is a physician who specializes in mental health. A psychiatric nurse practitioner is an advanced practice nurse with graduate training in psychiatric care. Both evaluate, diagnose and prescribe within their licenses, and both work the same way here.
